Week 5 Google Classroom and #Gridpals

Stuff for Google Classroom : Now that I have used Google Classroom it is becoming easier to use. I do not fully understand everything, but the more I use it the more comfortable I feel using it. I wish we would have had this guide when we first started using Google Classroom to help answer some of the questions I had, but I guess better late than never. A lot of the information seems pretty straight forward but I like how they suggest using the year as part of the section so if I use this yearly, I can decipher between years and sections that I have already created. Another tip I find helpful is numbering the assignments besides just labeling them so as the year goes on and assignments start piling up I can keep track of the assignments. I feel it would be easier to use if we had more time with the tool and actually had interactions between student and teacher to fully see all the benefits of Google Classroom. Twitter blogger

     As I continue to use Twitter, I see how I can learn from different people. There are a lot of good suggestions and educational posts that will help me to become a better Physical Education teacher. Many users post information that can be used in the classroom or that may help out with lesson plans. I follow many PE related users that I find interesting and that I will probably need some of their ideas to keep my classroom fresh. I suppose I will eventually be able to contribute to other teachers’ classrooms once I begin to create my own ideas.             I do have to admit that I do not like reading through the Twitter posts because it is messy with all the hashtags and is hard to follow. I find it frustrating to try and navigate through the different posts and I become bored with it quickly. I honestly will probably delete it once this class is over and save the different names of the users I liked and Goog...

Week 4 totally flipped choice

Flipped Classroom: It is great that we are becoming more aware of different ways to teach a classroom; not every student will have an easy time with basic instructions by the teacher. Some students need a different approach to learning and flipping the classroom appears to be an awesome alternative. Students no longer sit through boring lectures and then go home and do homework based on the lecture. Students can learn at their own pace and are able to get help from other students while doing homework in groups. Students are also able to review videos or PowerPoints multiple times in case they do not understand the first time. I really like this method of teaching because it gives the student the opportunity to review what they have learned with the teacher and class in the classroom. I remember, as a child, learning something at school and then going home and not understanding or remembering what I had learned in class. Week 3's awesome blog

          Digital Story: I never thought of myself as a storyteller or a good writer, in fact, I hated writing papers before coming back to college. Now, I feel like I can write a pretty decent paper, but I still feel like I am struggling in the storytelling area. Maybe it is because I do not use enough descriptive words or because I do not embellish the truth to make it sound more interesting, but my stories never appear to hold the listener's attention. It reminds me of the movie Big Fish where the father is dying, and the son resents his father because he feels he is a perpetual liar. By the end of the movie the son realizes that his father embellished the truth to make the stories sound more interesting and so the people listening hung on every word of the stories. In the end, the son appreciated that his father was a great storyteller and came to realize that his father was loved for his stories.         ...

Blog Week 2 Translate and Extensions

Translate in Google Sheets: Although I am a beginner with Excel this idea seems brilliant. I have found myself looking up words in different languages, mostly Spanish, but this spreadsheet would save a lot of time. Someone could find different translations of a word in many languages at once which could help a student learn English or a teacher instructing students who do not speak English. Control Alt Achieve: The many extensions on Chrome for struggling students and students with special needs is new to me. My girlfriend's daughter has a form of Dyslexia which causes her to struggle in school. The school has her in a special program at school which helps her succeed but I will show her these extensions on Google and hopefully, this can help her further. My girlfriend’s daughter is often frustrated with reading and maybe this will help with her frustration. Why I want to be a Teacher

     Why I want to be a teacher. .. I want to be a teacher because I want to have a career that makes a difference. I currently work in the automobile industry and I do not feel I am going to change anyone's life by selling them a vehicle. I also want to be a teacher because I enjoy working with children and I like to see the expression on a kids face when they learn something new or what I am teaching clicks in. My daughter just got her drivers permit and we went driving last night for the first time. Even though I was scared it was fun to see here learn and I could feel her pride as she accomplished various driving skills. That feeling is why I choose to be a teacher!
