Week 3's awesome blog

Digital Story: I never thought of myself as a storyteller or a good writer, in fact, I hated writing papers before coming back to college. Now, I feel like I can write a pretty decent paper, but I still feel like I am struggling in the storytelling area. Maybe it is because I do not use enough descriptive words or because I do not embellish the truth to make it sound more interesting, but my stories never appear to hold the listener's attention. It reminds me of the movie Big Fish where the father is dying, and the son resents his father because he feels he is a perpetual liar. By the end of the movie the son realizes that his father embellished the truth to make the stories sound more interesting and so the people listening hung on every word of the stories. In the end, the son appreciated that his father was a great storyteller and came to realize that his father was loved for his stories.
This week's resources had a section on digital storytelling and went into detail on how to create an interesting story and what components go into storytelling. “ Good storytelling reaches down deep into our minds, hearts, and spirits—it connects the humanity in all of us.” – Bernajean Porter.
Google Classroom: I have not heard of Google Classroom before reading these resources but I feel like this could replace students going to school in the future. I hope this is not the case because I am studying to be a teacher but if technology continues to move in the direction it is then Google Classroom could easily factor into student’s lesson plans. My current job is being taken over by technology and technology makes it easier for others to do my job without any experience. I feel students would still need to interact with other students to prepare them for a career later in life, but having some Google classes seems to be a growing trend and can help students who cannot make it to school or for students who would like to take classes from their own home. This also seems to be a step up from online classes in college where teachers just give reading and writing assignments. This is more detailed and gives the students and teachers more options with instant results.
